Giessen 46ers is a basketball club based in Gie�en, Germany, that plays in the Basketball Bundesliga and the only team that has never been relegated since the league was established in 1966.
Their home arena is Sporthalle Gie�en-Ost. The biggest achivements in club history are five German championships (1965, 1967, 1968, 1975, 1978). Besides that, the 46ers have won the German cup three times (1969, 1973, 1979).
The most recent achivements were an appearance in the BBL semifinals in 2005, when the team lost the series 1-3 to the eventual champion GHP Bamberg, and the third place in the BBL cup in 2006.
The current roster includes the former German national team players Gerrit Terdenge, Rouven Roessler and Robert Maras, German youth national team player Marco Buljevic and several American players.
There current head coach is Thorsten Leibenath, who joined in the summer of 2007 from British team Scottish Rocks.
