Rules - Payouts - Placing bets

Rules

The video poker screen displays three values:

  • Paid - The number of coins won from the last hand.
  • credits - The total number of coins remaining in your balance. This value will adjust according to the coin denomination setting of the video poker machine.
  • coins - The number of coins to be bet on the next hand.
  • This is equal to the number of coins wagered per hand multiplied by the number of hands played.

The video poker machine also has six buttons:

  • Deal/Draw: When at least one coin has been bet, the deal/draw button will become enabled.  The first time the deal/draw button is clicked, the game begins and the initial hand is dealt.  Once the player has chosen which cards to hold (keep), the deal/draw button can be clicked a second time to draw the replacement cards for each hand played and complete the game.
  • Play 25:  Quickly selects all five hands, bets the maximum number of coins per hand (5), and starts the deal.
  • Bet Max:  Allows the player to quickly bet the maximum number of coins per hand.  Unlike traditional Video Poker, the game will not automatically begin.
  • Bet One: Bets one coin at a time.  Once the desired number of coins is bet, the player must begin the game by clicking the deal/draw button.
  • Cash Out: Resets both the number of hands being played and the number of coins per hand to 0, returning the coins to your balance.  You may only cash out prior to starting the deal.

The Bets

Select a denomination for the video poker machine by using the buttons below the "Select coin value" label.  This will set the value of each coin played.  Following this, choose the number of coins to be bet per hand (from one to five) by using the Bet One button to bet one coin at a time, or use the Bet Max button to bet the maximum coins allowed by the machine (balance permitting).  Next, increase the number of hands you wish to play by clicking the More Hands button (the first hand is always selected by default).  Finally, click on the Deal/Draw button to deal the initial hand.  Note that the Play 25 button will automatically cause the initial hand to be dealt.

The Cards

Cards are ranked in order of their face value, with aces considered "high".  The ranking is from lowest to highest: 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, Jack, Queen, King, Ace.  Some games make use of Wild Cards (i.e. a joker, or any deuce) that can be used as any other card (rank and suit) to improve the hand.  Read further in this help document for the details of how the cards are used by each of the Video Poker game variation.

The Deal

Five initial cards will be dealt to the player's first hand only, of which, the player may choose to hold (keep) any, all, or none.  Any card that is held in the first hand will be copied into all the others hands played.  This means that by holding a winning combination in the first hand guarantees (at least) this winning combination in all of the other hands.  Each hand, using its own deck, will then have the opportunity to draw cards to replace any cards that were not held.  The final cards for each hand determines the payout for each hand.  The higher the rank of each hand, the greater the payout.  Note that because each hand uses its own deck, it is possible to receive the same cards in more than one hand... this includes the possibility of multiple Royal Flushes!

When you receive at least one hand that earns a payout, you may have the option to Double Up.  The Double Up feature is a "double or nothing" proposition whereby you can play a bonus game for chance to double your total winnings for that hand.  See "Double Up Feature" later in this help for more information.
