The 22-year-old American and professional soccer player has been swapped over to the New York Red Bulls in exchange for a restricted selection in the fourth round of next year's Major League Soccer super draft in Galaxy’s favor. The pronouncement of the trade was made known on Saturday the 30th of June of the present year on behalf of the Los Angeles Galaxy.
Quaranta was traded to the Los Angeles Galaxy, where he currently played as a midfielder, from D.C. United after five and a half years, for a fractional distribution and a provisional draft pick on August 9, 2006. In his first match with the Galaxy the next day, Quaranta entered as a replacement and scored the only goal of the match in a 1-0 win against the Houston Dynamo.
Throughout his season he managed to play in thirteen games for the team, making three starts and achieving three goals during his stay. Quaranta also appeared in three of Galaxy's four reserve-division games.
Quaranta will now play as a forward wearing the number 5 and will use red and white for his home games and blue and white for his away games. According to Alexi Lalas, general manager of the club, the shift was made to deal with salary limits and team opening matters.
