MLB – New Milestones

By: Jane Richy

This past weekend Alex Rodriguez, Hideki Matsui, Tom Glavine, Barry Bonds and Frank Thomas made history in the MLB.

Yankees’ Hideki Matsui hit the home run number 100 of his MLB career last Sunday August 6th, previous to that he had already reached the number 332 in his country Japan where he has been honored three times MVP in their Central League. Alex Rodriguez became the youngest player with 500 home runs in the MLB he is a favorite to receive this year’s MVP award.

From the Blue Jays, Frank Thomas, who has been named the All MVP twice, move to place number 20 in the “all time home run” list with 505 in total.

The all times home run leader Henry Aaron was tied by the San Francisco Giants’ star Barry Bonds, though the audience was confused with it, while he was running through the bases, some people were happy and others not… but is definitely a positive thing for his career and one of the biggest events for the MLB’s history, during the game against the Giants he did not play probably to avoid aggressive attitude from the audience.

Tom Glavine from the Mets is now between the 23 players who have reached the 300 wins last Sunday when they won against the Cubs.

All these events show this sport is growing and going the right way, hopefully in the future these players will be remembered as some of the biggest stars.
