WBC Middleweight Championship: Taylor to face Pavlik

By Julie Smith

The coming September 29, the boxing card at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey will determinate the best American middleweight in both WBC and WBO Middleweight Championship. Taylor will have to face the well known Pavlik also called “The Ghost”, who actually enters the fight with a knockout percentage record, much higher than Taylor’s.

Taylor comes to prove that his experiences against big opponents have given him a superior category. After a spectacular amateur career, where he obtained an Olympic Medal, he jumped to the pro boxing to shine with his punching technique. He is very enthusiastic and his fights are always full of conviction.

However, Pavlik appears to be a rigid opponent with 28 knockouts in his pocket and his unusual size -since he is a very large middleweight- and tremendous power. As well as Taylor, Pavlik is recognized as an undefeated fighter.

This promise to be a great battle, Taylor’s promoter Loui DiBella of DiBella Entertainment has the plan to move the fighter from the middleweight class to the super middleweight. This means perhaps, it would be the last fight for Taylor in this category, whether he wins or loses.

Of course, Jermain Taylor is preparing himself to be the best for what could be his biggest challenge since winning the World Middleweight Championship more than two years ago. It assures the fans that this Saturday’s fight could be one of the best of 2007.
