Are the Patriots the Best Pick to get the AFC East Championship Title?

I see the general thought out there is that the Patriots are so close to an AFC East Championship title and to enter the NFL Playoffs. It surprises me how all these experts are overlooking the holes on the Patriots structure for this season.

Now I don’t want to be misunderstood, I agree with the fact that they might have the best structure that we have seen put together so far. Two things that go on their favor are, first of all Bill Belichick, it is a common fact that he may very well be the best coach in the NFL and second, any team with Tom Brady in it has a great advantage.

Brady is great, but the passing game is in a bit of trouble. New England has a weakness down the field, currently I think they are lacking options, unless they plan to free up tight end Benjamin Watson from blocking responsibilities. As for Belichick's reputation as a defensive genius, well, he's going to have add a chapter to his legend because New England's linebacker corps is shaky. The Patriots have let tons of talented football players walk in recent years and maybe this is their time to pay for not filling the wholes.

The Patriots showed on their exhibition game that they might not have enough starting-caliber linebackers, given that Don Davis, Barry Gardner and Monty Beisel didn’t exactly set the world on fire in the preseason opener. And don’t get us started on the wide receivers. When it comes to the ground game, though, the Patriots appear to be as well fortified as they ever have. With flashy rookie Laurence Maroney and Corey Dillon they seem to have two running backs capable of gaining serious yardage.

So far it is uncertain what will happen in December, I do not agree with the experts, but do not disagree thus the Patriots seem to be the best pick for the AFC East category.
