Dennis and Alonso not on good terms
By Cindy Ferguson
The whole commotion arose after Fernando Alonso threatened to expose proof regarding the spy gate scandal, which later caused McLaren to be fined and the loss of their points in the constructor’s race.
Dennis stated at last weeks hearing that he and Alonso’s relationship was not on good terms at all and that his job is to win the world championship and not to be friends with everyone in the industry.
Their bond was put under rigorous twist after a split up on the morning of the Hungary race that was the day after the divisive qualifying session that led to Alonso being discarded from pole to sixth on the grid after being found blameworthy of intentionally jamming team-mate Lewis Hamilton. When Alonso threatened to go to the FIA with evidence Dennis decided to phone Max Mosley, the FIA president, himself.
Alonso was suppose to make himself present at the hearing in Paris last week but purposely did not show up regardless of the fact that the team had him requested him to do so. His excuse was that he had previous plans to attend to.
The result of last weeks hearing was McLaren having to pay a fine of £49.2m and along with the deduction of their constructor’s points.
Alonso’s two year contract remaining with the team may now be in jeopardy after this upset between the two parties.
