Coaches in the NFL: A Look At Romeo Crennel

By Peter Portero

Attitude, stamina, dedication, and confidence are four qualities every NFL coach possesses. They all want to win and to be the best. They have to be leaders. These men are idols to their players. They are who the players look up to. They may stomp, curse, rant, and rave, but it’s because they want to show the world that their team is the best. They make names for themselves; they are either liked or not liked by the public. Everyone can find flaws amongst these coaches, but they’ve never been in their shoes. To coach an NFL team, they have to possess strength and know that criticism comes along with their job.

Romeo Crennel, the head coach for the Cleveland Browns, is a motivator. He knows what to say to get his team pumped. He doesn’t yell or scream. He’s a team player. If Romeo went out on the field every game thinking he was better than all his players they’d loose every game. He makes the players feel like he’s one of them, not better than them, not under them, but equal to them. That is what makes NFL coaches so recognizable. Not many people would want the responsibility of the job. The coaches of NFL have a real passion for football and the players. They know what it takes to win, and winning is what they want to do. They have heart; they are televised weekly and under a major amount of pressure. Pressure is what these coaches thrive off of. Ten seconds to go and the ball is on the 10-yard line, what happens next? The coaches can take it from there, but it’s a team effort. Without a coach there would be no players, and without players there would be no coach. Ultimately, they are a family.
