Johnson Wins the Masters Tournament
By Audrey Nolan
Very unexpected, but it is the truth, Zack Johnson is the 2007 Master Champion, he beat Tiger Woods yesterday, Tiger was just a disaster, his game wasn’t even close to his way of playing not even close to ordinary. A quick statement Tiger was not Tiger Woods yesterday.
But Johnson was Johnson yesterday, nobody thought that he could win the Masters Tournament, but he did it, he did actually what Tiger usually does on a major Sunday, even grind his golf cleats across the neck of the rest of the field.
If you follow the statistics Johnson was not even appearing in the favorites, he lost the cut in the last three majors in 2006. His best finish in a biggie was T-17 at the 2005 PGF. Let’s face it he beat the best player in the planet. Tiger Woods has won 12 major tournaments, by the time his career is over, the golfers will be judged by their quality.
Tiger is the only one who is guilty of going home without the title of the masters, if he has just played as he did on Saturday the history would had been different, you can see the difference between Saturday and Sunday. Saturday he had a cold and calculated game on Sunday under less pressure and better conditions he got stuck, seems he was between reverse and neutral, trying to press the gas but it didn’t worked.
Johnson shined on Sunday. It was him and not Tiger who made the difference in this tournament when he moved to a tie on No.13 then went by himself to No.14. On the 18th hole when he was off the green and Tiger trying to put a birdie on No.16, guaranteed his victory by sticking the ball in and Tiger failed to sink to No. 16.
"It makes it that much more gratifying to know I beat Tiger Woods," said Johnson, who entered the week with exactly one career tour victory.
