Hockey is a game for rude people, but sometimes gets more than rude
By Jill Woods
For Hockey lovers the fact of knowing that this sport is made for rude people is not new. As the development of this sport during the game is a real show for all the fans that often visit the ice field, the players are aware of the strength it requires and all the consequences they are exposed if the tactic they perform does not work, sometimes it gets really violent.
Hockey is a sport that needs to be played with a defined physical balance, however players know that it also is about to knock down the opponent to reach the main goal: to win the game.
As an example lets take a look at last Saturday Ranger’s game at the Madison Square Garden, when the 220 pound Brendan Shanahan and the 230 pound Mike Knuble crashed each other. With the two of the best players lying on the ice, the spectators and all the people present at the place were really scared about the situation. Shanahan lost the consciousness but was helped at once and after spending the night at the St Vincent’s Hospital in Manhattan the X-Rays didn’t show any damage to his neck or spine.
On the other hand, Knuble had the worse part of the accident. The player fractured his right orbital and his right cheekbone requiring surgery. Knuble will be out of the Flyer’s lineup for an indefinite period.
Despite the bad moment and the fact that this kind of accidents happen once in a while, the situation could be worse.
This is one of the inevitable situations we were talking before, but is part of the sport, even when all the relatives and fans can get worry about this kind of inconveniences; nobody stops the fever of Hokey.
