Indy Racing League and the next season
By Jill Woods
For the next Indianapolis 500, the Indy Racing League will move its race at Kansas Speedway from July to April next year.
The space Kansas will leave vacated will be used for a road race at Watkins Glen, with a test event scheduled which could produce a IRL race at the Nascar’s most famous track the Daytona International Speedway.
Part of the schedule was released for the next season with nine races and seven more will be announced in the next two weeks.
Some of the teams that will test at Daytona on Sep 26-27 are Ganassi, Andretti, Penske and Panther, in order to determine if the track is appropriated for a permanent test track.
Other races will take place at St Petersburg, Fla., the Milwaukee Mile, Texas Motor Speedway, Iowa Speedway, Nashville Superspeedway and Kentucky Speedway and have been already scheduled for the next season.
Kansas Speedway will be opening on April 29, with a good weather for the track and also for the spectators, and Watkins Glen will be in action on July 8, providing more attractive activities for the tourists in the summertime.
