Montoya: the newest face in Nascar

By Jill Woods

The well known driver Juan Pablo Montoya will be making his Nascar debut at the Memphis Motorsports Park in the Busch Series race, and will drive the No.42 Dodge for Chip Ganassi Racing next October 28.

The decision was made after testing the Memphis track last week. Montoya also tested at Talladega Superspeedway where he finished third place and at Iowa Speedway in preparation for his next race.

Many of you can remember the driver left the McLaren’s F1 Team last July to introduce himself in the Nascar world along with Chip Ganassi, who is his boss. He signed a multi-year contract becoming the first formula one driver to ever join the Nascar Nextel Cup.

Regarding the testing at the Memphis track, the driver participated with his teammate David Stremme; the times and the action developed at the track were not revealed, but he has all the support from Ganassi and the confidence that he will give his best at the Busch Series.

Montoya, who is 31 years old, has a lot of recognition as driver into some of the different tournaments he has made 137 starts as in the CART, Indy Car and the Formula One Series, obtaining 18 victories, 26 poles, 60 top-five and 79 top-10 finishes.

Montoya will become the first F1 driver in the history of Nascar to compete in the circuit full time.
