Top NCAA teams are on a downfall
By Cindy Ferguson
This past weekend was pretty bad for many of the top ranked NCAA football teams in the nation and many wonder what this could be caused by, being that three out of the top five and seven out of the top thirteen, all lost in just one weekend. Not something that is very usual of happening.
Some feel that this is due to many new faces being contracted by the teams within the league, as some teams think the newcomers have not brought much luck. Two important teams like Texas and Oklahoma will already have by October 10th at least two losses counted against them including the collapse of Big Ten teams as well.
Other situations arousing certain teams like South Florida, is their quarterback Matt Grothe, who kicked off one of the wackiest two-day spans in college football history while the Rutgers lost to Maryland and Oklahoma was defeated by Colorado. Along the way, Clemson lost to Georgia Tech and Wisconsin scarcely ran away a scuffle with Michigan State. Indiana beat Iowa, Illinois struck Penn State, and Tulane gave LSU a rightful test down in New Orleans.
Previous to the start of this season, the college football articles meant for December were previously put together and were similar to a game of fill-in-the blanks. This was the same method used from prior years because everyone was so used to the same teams winning. However, this program will no longer work for sports writers because NCAA football has gone mad!
The top five will now be made up of other teams such as USC, LSU, California, Ohio State, and Wisconsin. We’ll just have to see what this weekend and the rest of the season has in store for us.
