The Fighting Irish make another change

Evan Sharpley will make his first career start at home on Saturday at the Notre Dame’s game against Southern California.
The 20-year-old junior quarterback is the third starting signal-caller for the team in what goes for the season. Last season Sharpley started his football career as a backup to Brady Quinn.
On a weekly news conference given on Tuesday, the Fighting Irish coach, Charlie Weis admitted that the change was made to give them the best chance of winning against the team that currently holds the 13th spot in the rankings. Another reason is that Clausen is not in the finest health condition to compete in their next game and due to his awful performance in their last game.
With less time of play than Clausen, Sharpley has guided the Fighting Irish to four of its seven offensive touchdowns. Clausen is the teams current starters because of his accuracy, but Sharpley replaced him against Boston College early in the second half and managed 11-for-29 for 135 yards and a touchdown.
So far Sharpley has passed for three touchdowns and two interceptions in six games and has a 111.42 pass effectiveness ranking in comparison with Clausen's 89.51, whom on the other hand, has one touchdown pass and five interceptions.
The junior is also good at having his touchdown drives done on fewer yards than his teammate being that three of the four touchdown drives Sharpley has led the Irish on being 79 yards or longer and Clausen has led the Irish on touchdown drives of 9, 80 and 2 yards.
Hopefully Weis’ decision was a good one and his choice will give Notre game exactly what they need to win.
