Vick’s jersey has been removed
By Cindy Ferguson
Michael Vick continues to be cause for commotion and now his jersey has been removed from his former High School’s trophy case. His name has been all over the place since the scandal broke out last August.
Vick was a very successful quarterback until he was convicted of federal charge for being found guilty of dog fighting charges. Since the news broke out of such actions which were made on behalf of the NFL star nothing but shame and down falls have hit him.
He played during two seasons at Warwick High School in 1996 and 1996 before going to Virginia Tech and being drafted first overall by the Atlanta Falcons back in 2001.
The school’s principal, Varinda Robinson, decided to take down the jersey with no pressure from the outside, but feeling that it was the right thing to do. Sports stars are many times admired by those who have hoped of building a future in some type of sport and serve as roll models for many to follow. Obviously this is one example that none should follow and is the reason as to why his jersey can no longer continue to serve as a pride and example. Most likely his jersey will never go back up in that high school case.
Vick pleaded guilty back in August to the federal charge, admitting he helped kill six to eight dogs. He is now awaiting his sentence, which is scheduled for December 10th.
