Michael Vicks faces federal charges

The pro football scenario is making news again, a new scandal is on the spotlight and the Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick is the leader. The 27-year-old player was indicted for Animal Cruelty.
Apparently, Vick is related to a dog fighting business operated from the player’s property located in Virginia, the name of the organization was “Bad Newz Kennels”. According to the investigations Michael Vick and his associates started purchasing the dogs back on 2001, they kept the animals at Michael’s property and were trained for fighting, he also organized and sponsored the “events” collecting up to $26,000 per fight .
In the United States this activity has been banned. The police reports stated that last April over eight dogs were executed due failing on test fights, the animals were killed in the must cruel ways, electrocuted, hanged and drowned . Mr. Vick is not the only one involved in this crime , Purnell A. peace, Quanis L. Phillips, Tony Taylor will be also prosecuted. Michael and co-defendant are accused of Animal cruelty, Sponsoring Dog fights and gambling, using interstate commerce and mail to commit an unlawful activity, among other charges.
Michael and co-defendants could face jail time. For the football star this is a terrible incident for his career. The latest news confirmed that Nike decided not to sell anymore of his products, and they will not sponsor Vick’s brand anymore, Nike suspended his deal without pay, Reebok did the same thing and Donruss declare that they will cut Mr. Vick from all future trading Card products, Air Tran Airway dismissed him as well.
The trial is scheduled for November 26 . Atlanta Falcons’ owner Arthur Blank said that he will not permit that this compromises the team , so far the evidence is unproven , and the team management has to wait for the legal process to be followed in order to take a decision . Michael is not allowed to go into the team training camp until the league makes a formal announcement .
