Bears first game ends with important injuries
By Cindy Ferguson
The first game of the season for the Chicago Bears ended with the important injuries to free safety Mike Brown and nose tackle Dusty Dvoracek on Sunday afternoon after defeating the San Diego Chargers.
Both players have endured muscle injuries to their left knees after being confirmed by the results of MRI examinations done to both on Monday. Although Coach Lovie Smith did not confirm that they will be out for the rest of the season…he did say, "They both have serious knee injuries." Smith stated he wishes to speak to them first and then once the situation has cleared he will then release further information to the press.
Brown’s absence on the whole is destructive in view of the fact that this will turn into the fourth consecutive year that the star-crossed defensive back will fail to be involved in considerable playing time including the third time in four seasons that his campaign has ended prematurely with him listed on the injured reserve list. This will raise to 43 the number of games that Brown has been absent during the past four years.
Dvoracek was out for his entire 2006 rookie season when he was positioned on injured reserve list with a foot injury that was persistent during pre-season. His preliminary task on Sunday corresponded to the opening appearance of his career, and he had two tackles before his injury.
