Super Liga - Pachuca CF Defeated Chivas USA

By Stephen Lars

In a debut game of the Superliga Group B, the Pachuca CF defeated by 2 goals the Chivas USA at the Home Depot Center Stadium.

The Pachuca players the Argentinean Bruno Marioni scored the first goal at the 23rd minute of the first half while Gabriel Caballero scored at the 42nd minute. And Claudia Suarez failed to score a penalty shot.

After this game the Pachuca team will face next Wednesday the New England Revolution and with these extra points the group takes the leadership of the scoreboard. Meantime, Chivas USA will play Santos Laguna, which up to this moment has not accumulated points.

It was certainly a very strange game as Chivas USA had a solid beginning, which lasted for more less 20 minutes; but after the two goals achieved by its rivals there was just not possibility for the West Coast group.

Pachuca truly imposed itself on the field as the fastest, more dynamic team; situation that urged the “Tuzos” to change strategies especially to control Ante Razov and Sacha Kljestan who managed a very imposing game.

In the second half, Pinto’s fault opened the door of opportunity, as the Guatemalan referee Carlos Batres indicated would become a penalty shoot. Claudia Suarez was the man to execute the shoot but he sent it right to the pole and the goal was just not possible.

The Mexicans were able to take control of the game and the scoreboard in a blink of an eye while the rivals were still struggling. Later on the Argentinean Christian Giménez was able to manage a goal coming from the right corner directly to the net. This was simply an incredible display of performance by the footballer.

When both teams had the same amount of goals things seemed to get even but the Pachuca team was better at adjusting the defense and began to win the midfield with the extra help of Gerardo Rodriguez for a final step to overcome Lance Parker at the 42nd minute of the game.

The Chivas group was just lacking strength as well as losing control of the actions in course as their rivals showed a more intense dynamic besides a stronger will to win the game. Despite the fact, Chivas began controlling the game at first.

The game’s referee Guatemalan Carlos Batres played an important role as well for the final score as he wrongly – we believe – did not give two very well deserved red cards to a couple of Chivas’ players while instead showed a yellow card to Fausto Pinto

Nevertheless, Pachuca ended as the winner after overcoming its rival increasing its chances to a better place in the scoreboard besides the security this victory provides to the players who will soon be playing other very strong football teams.
