FC Dallas Defeats Galaxy & Climbs Spots in the MLS
By Stephen Lars
The MLS team FC Dallas has recently obtained its first win in more than a month after defeating the Los Angeles Galaxy last Sunday by four to zero at half of the season in the MLS Championship.
FC Dallas player Kenny Cooper made his first intervention during the 15th minute with a fantastic goal followed by a second score only two minutes after. These two goals were the turning point for the Galaxy defense, which completely collapsed allowing two additional goals by the Ghanaian Dominic Oduro and Abe Thompson.
On the other hand, Galaxy main stars David Beckham and Landon Donovan were part of the game list along with the Argentinean Eduardo Domínguez who was recently transferred from the Independiente Medellín de Colombia.
After achieving this victory FC Dallas stands at only two points of the third position in the Western Conference which is now occupied by Chivas USA; and Chivas currently does not possess a good goal average which at the end could represent an advantage for Dallas.
Since Schellas Hyndman was named head coach approximately two months ago this is the first time Dallas wins and for such an extend margin. This was indeed especially for Dallas as last time they placed the Galaxy they were beaten by five goals to one, situation that claimed Steve Morrow Head Coach position.
After managing to score twice in the recent game against the Galaxy, Kenny Cooper draws in goals with Galaxy Edson Buddle, both players in the second position of the scoring board in the MLS championship and only one less goal than the leader Landon Donovan.
For the moment, the Galaxy remains in the second position of the Western Conference with a total of 23 points right behind Real Salt Lake whose next rival will be Toronto FC.
There has also been additional action in the MLS as the San Jose Earthquakes defender Darren Huckerby scored his first goal tying the game one to one against the New York Red Bulls at the Buck Shaw Stadium. Huckerby’s goal came at the 13 minute.
Huckerby has played for Norwich City in the English Premier League since 2003 and has participated in approximately 200 games. "Technically is not the same thing that in the Premier League, but I have a good physical level. And there is very good physical level in all the teams", acknowledged Huckerby.
At the Kansas City Community America Ballpark the Wizards tied to zero goals with the Chicago Fire. Some of the Chicago players were shown yellow cards among them the Mexican star Cuauthémoc Blanco. So far in the tournament Chicago has showed the most solid defense managing a total of 14 goals in 17 games.
The Chicago Fire goalkeeper, Jon Busch accomplished his seventh unbeaten game of the year and he currently heads the MLS with a record of (0.82). After the game the Chicago Fire remains in the third position of the Eastern Conference with a total of 26 points.
