The Big Wait for the MLS Fans
By Ally White
The Los Angeles Galaxy advanced to the Super Liga tournament semi-finals winning 6-5 over the FC Dallas. A crowd of 21,676 did not get to see David Beckham’s promised debut. Besides the superstar, quality defensive playing was also the big absentee but at the end they managed to pull through.
David Beckham’s injury on his left ankle has kept him on the bench for the Galaxy’s latest encounters, but over the ticket sales have not been hurt one bit. The Pizza hut Park, home for Dallas, held a full crowd and it has been a similar story everywhere else that they go. The arrival of the former English Capitan has been a determinant factor that has caused the sell outs.
It has been heard that Beckham cannot wait to debut for his new team, and he feels frustrated with this whole situation. Meanwhile, Major League Soccer and soccer fans in general are desperate to see the star and disappointed to pay for tickets and not get to see him participate. They also have to admit that this is not the fairytale start that was announced for Beckham but there are hopes since he has acquired a 5 year commitment.
The players, along with the fans, everyone is excited about David Beckham’s arrival, and mostly I believe MLS fans want to see what he is going to do for the Galaxy. For now we are all just going to have to wait for the big start since his performance with his new team against Toronto is not yet confirmed.
