Dallas & Houston – Third Draw of the Season

By Audrey Nolan

At this moment the Major Soccer League Season is half way through and these two teams the FC Dallas and the Houston Dynamo have played in three different occasions finishing with a draw.

The Dynamo player Brian Ching scored for his team during the 21st minute as he took the advantage of this team mate Craig Waibel’s pass across from the right sideline. This becomes Ching’s sixth goals in a total of seven games during the season. But the draw came in the 62nd minute from the Dallas player Cooper.

The Dallas team was inconceivable disappointing as they were the best team during the 90-minute game…"Sure, we are disappointed," Ching said. "You look at our team and what has made us successful for the past couple of years - it's defense. We have been one of the best defensive, if not, the best defensive team in the league. "But now we've got guys letting in mistakes; they are making big mistakes which are costing us games. It's the same guys costing us three, four games, so it's disappointing."

Despite the consecutive attempts to score as well as Dallas’ change of strategies it was just not possible for them to have a positive end. These two teams’ previous games ended up as ties as well with scores of 3-3 in April while they played in Houston and a 2-2 tie last May in Dallas.

There is a very strong rivalry between these two teams and this recent match showed how fierce fully them both tried to win it with 27 total fouls and four yellow cards.

Dominic Kinnear Houston’s Head Coach stated that one single mistake in the defense was the reason of the draw. But in general it was a solid game during which they had visible opportunities to reverse the score but its rival’s display was also very steady.

"We had more than enough chances in the first 45 minutes of the game to possibly put the game out of reach. We created good situations and good chances. But we got a tie out of it and I think the guys are really disappointed, as we should be."

Houston is the League’s defending champion and their recent match - Dallas was not what they had expected they have indeed become very respectable rival which they will have to overcome. The point gap starts to make more sense for the teams which will be part of the MLS playoffs.
