Yesterday David Beckham had his official debut in Major League Soccer in the RFK Stadium against D.C. United, the fourth largest crowd (46,686 people) in the history of the league, his only previous performance was in a exhibition game.
The new midfielder of the Los Angeles Galaxy entered the field on the 72nd minute, with rainy weather, loosing by one goal scored by Luciano Emilio in the 27th minute and ten players after Kyle Martino was expelled with red card, he couldn’t make much for the team in these last minutes reason why some fans were disappointed.
Beckham said to the press that he felt happy of giving this first step of playing after eight weeks without playing or training because of his injury which is in still in recovery process, and mention that there was probably going to be a reaction after the game. This has been the most important debut from a foreign in the MLS since Pelé in 1975
He already has one month of playing with the Galaxy and because of his injury he has been out of the pitch but hopefully he will be playing half game next game against New England and then the full games.
