By Julie Smith
Nadal, who is aiming for his third Roland Garros title after beating his practice partner Carlos Moya 6-4, 6-3, 6-0 in the quarterfinals this Wednesday, has demonstrated, once again, why is known as the world’s best on clay surfaces. The Spaniard maintained his 100 percent record in the French Open, which now runs for 19 matches.
On the way to the final, Rafael Nadal will have to face Novak Djokovic, who reached his first Grand Slam semifinal by beating Igor Andreev of Russia 6-3, 6-3, 6-3. After watching the game against Moya, Novak knows what to expect from Nadal this coming Friday.
Djokovic is not going to be an easy contender, he played an amazing quarterfinal game against Igor Andreev from Russia, defending and serving very well, also being aggressive from the start to the end. Novak is the third Serb to reach the semifinals this year at Roland Garros.
Nadal, is only two wins shy of his third consecutive French Open title. However, his strongest opponent the Swiss Roger Federer is also towards the championship. The Spaniard has played 25 matches on the surface and dropped four (4) sets total, two of them to Roger Federer in the Hamburg defeat that ended Nadal's 81-match march to the glory.
Even with great players like Djokovic on the road to the final, Federer appears with his unbelievable talent to be the primary obstacle on the way for Nadal to obtain his third victory.
