The first British Grand Prix of the history was established on May 13th, 1950 at the city of Silverstone, Northamptonshire, Grand Britain.

This place has been the cradle of this important event since 1987. Previously, Silverstone alternated with Brands Hatch and also with Aintree between the years of 1955-1962.

But, there was a dispute between the Formula 1 authorities and Silverstone’s owners, in 2003, due to necessary improvements for the track that would be benefitial for future races.

On October 2004, the British Racing Driver’s Club (BRDC) refused to cover the race fees requested by Berny Ecclestone, because of this situation, the British Grand Prix got left off from the preliminary race schedule for 2005. The BRDC, Ecclestone and Formula 1 Constructors came to an agreement, in order to let the Silverstone circuit held the Grand Prix until 2009.

The one driver that has the British Grand Prix record is Michael Schumacher from the Ferrari team with 1:18.739 in 2004.
