2006 Podium Controversy:
As part of the ceremony, the winner's trophy was presented by Mehmet Ali Talat, the president of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, a state which is only recognized by Turkey. Some commentators feared this will bring further consequences to the future of the Turkish Grand Prix with FIA as they also fined the country with a $5 million penalty due to the incident.
