Tiger Woods


Eldrick T. Woods was born on December 30, 1975 in Cypress, California. Tiger’s parents played an important roll in Wood’s introduction to the game of golf. By the age of 8 he won the first of six Optimist International Junior World Titles. Tiger Woods became the only player in USGA history to have won both the Junior Amateur and Amateur titles.

Woods’ first professional tournament was in 1992 at the age of 16. He participated in the Nissan - Los Angeles Open. Additionally, he won in 1991, 1992 and 1993 the U.S Junior Amateur Championship and in 1994, 1995, and 1996, the U.S Amateur.

At the age of 21, Woods turned pro becoming the youngest player ever to win the Masters and the first person of African descent to win a major golf championship. In June 15, 1997 he became number 1 on the Official World Golf Ranking.

Woods’ success could never be imagined; he won the PGA Tour, the PGA Championship 8 times and he earned approximately $6,616,585. In 2000, Woods won the U.S Open, in Pebble Beach, California.
He marked the record with 15 strokes, and won the tournament.

On the same year he won the British Open and became the youngest player to win four major titles: PGA Championship, the Masters, the U.S Open, and the British Open. Woods is the second player that has won three major titles in one year.

He has achieved other major winnings to his outstanding records and these are: the Asian Honda Classic ( 1998), Johnnie Walker Classic ( Asia), 1999 Deutsche Bank Open – TPC of Europe; and the 2000 Johnnie Walker Classic.
