A couple of years before the team was formally founded the National Hockey League provided Atlanta with the opportunity to have a new local franchise.
In 1999 the Atlanta Thrashers team was created. Despite the constant ups and downs the Thrashers have been able to achieve good positions over the past season finishing third, second and first in the Southeast division; even qualifying during the 2006-2007 campaign to the regular season playoffs which the team lost in the quarterfinals to the Rangers.
The Atlanta Thrashers’ Head Coach is the American Don Waddell who recently began his coaching career in 2002-03 season for the first time to later come back during the most recent campaign in 2007-2008; but the Thrashers only managed to obtained 34 wins and losses equally for a fourth place in the division rank. |
Amongst some of the most accomplished Thrasher players there are: Ilya Kovalchuk, Marian Hossa, Dany Heathly, Ray Ferraro, Bobby Holik and Yannick Tremblay.
