Portland Pirates

The Portland Pirates play in Portland, Maine at the Cumberland County Civic Center.
The team was created in 1993-94 as part of the Washington Capitals, but in 2005 the affiliation ended.
The team achieved the Calder Cup during their first season.
Then in 1995-96 the team reached the Calder Cup finals once more but lost to Rochester Americans
Later on for the 1999-2000 season the team was left out from the playoffs in the first round.
In 2005 the team announced a 5-year addition to the current contract with the Cumberland County Civic Center
