The team was created as a result of the NHL expansion in the area in 1992.
The Panthers have not been a very constant hockey team as throughout their time in the professional league they have not make it to the playoffs; their only major accomplishment has been the 1995-96 conference championship.
Nevertheless, the Panthers have had a handful of notable players such as: Brian Skrudland, Pavel Bure, Kamil Kreps and Wayne Gretzky whose number 99 has retired league wise during the early months of 2000.
The Panthers do not count with a current Head Coach as their latest 2007-2008 campaign became the seventh straight season the team did not qualify for the playoffs.
As of the 1998 season, the team plays its home games at the BankAtlantic Center. |
