The Boston University is one of the biggest private higher education institutions in the country. Its Atlethic Department has men and women teams in all mayor collegiate sports representing the school in the NCAA Division I.

The men’s basketball team is known as the Terriers. They have obtained post-season berths in the NCAA tournament or NIT from 2002-2005.

Some big names that have coached the team are: Rick Pitino and Mike Jarvis. Currently, they are guided by Al Skinner.

The team’s biggest rivalry is with the Maine Black Bears and the Catamounts of Vermont. The Boston University Terriers play their home games at the Agganis Arena which also is home of the succesfull Boston University's hockey team.

In the2008-2009 season, the Terriers finished 3rd in the America East Conference. They had an 11-5 in conference game record, and a 17-13 mark overall.
