Maine Blackbears are currently under the coaching of Ted Woodward, whose players have obtained several honors in the America East All-Conference.

During the 2007-2008 season, Head Coach Ted Woodward led the youngest team in America East Conference to victories on the road over the defending champion Albany Great Danes and eventual champion UMBC. Still the feat was not enough and the team ended last in the conference.

Things did not get much better for the Black Bears during the 2008-2009 season. The team ended second to last in their conference with a 4-12 in conference games record and an overall 9-21 mark for the season.

As of early January 2010, the Black Bears are one a good comeback. They are second in the America East Conference standings, with a 6-2 in conference games record.
