The University of New Hampshire's solid athletic program is nicknamed the Wildcats and is part of the America East conference in NCAA Division I.
The basketball team works under the guidance of Bill Herrion, one of the most successful coaches in America East men’s basketball history.
He is best known for his outstanding accomplishments at Drexel where he posted an impressive 167-71 record from 1991-1999.
With Herrion, the Wildcats made it to the American East Championship semifinals in the 2005-06 campaing, its furthest advance since 1995.
In the 2008-2009 season, the Wildcats tied for the 4th place in the America East Conference with Stony Brook with an 8-8 record in conference games and 14-16 overall record for the season.
