The Vermont Catamounts basketball team has had several appearances in the NCAA tournaments. The team also won the American East Conference Championship in 3 consecutive years (2003 to 2005).
In 2007 the team was the runner-up in this tournament against Albany. They later on made it to the Nantional Invitational Tournament.
The Patrick Gym which seats 3266 spectators is the home court of Vermont's Men’s Basketball team. The facility has already host three of the last four America East Men's Basketball Championship Games (2004, 2005 and 2007).
In 2008-2009 season, the Catamounts finished tied for 1st place in the America East Conference with a 13-3 record in conference games. In the postseason they played in the College Basketball Invitationaland made it to the quarterfinals were they lost to Oregon State.
