The school athletic program is known as the Bears. Along with the team’s head coach Mark Slonaker they have been very successful.

During the 2002-2003 season Slonaker was named the Jim Phelan National Coach of the Year for the best one season turnaround in NCAA history as the team improved from 6-23 to 23-6 and won the Atlantic Sun regular season championship.

One of the team’s most outstanding basketball players in the team is forward Will Emerson, chosen as the 2004-05 and 2005-06 Atlantic Sun Conference Male Student Athlete of the Year and is only the third person to be selected twice for the award.

The Bears play their home games at the University Center.
