The men’s basketball program has been a very important part of the University's Athletic Department.

During the 1970’s JU became the smallest school to ever make it to the Final Four in the NCAA‘s history and the following season, the Dolphins became the first school to average 100 points per game.

The team is currently coached by Cliff Warren and they play their home games at the Swisher Gymnasium.

After 19 years of absence in the NCAA Tournament, the Dolphins won a spot in the tournament for their sixth time at the end 2007-08 by obtaining an overall record of 18-13 and a 12-4 record in conference play. 

The 2008-2009 season proved to be one of their best ever. The Dolphins held a 15-5 record in conference games to win one Atlantic Sun regular-season title. They have not yet won the conference tournament and the automatic bid to the NCAA tournament as a member of the Atlantic Sun conference.
As of late January 2009-2010 season, Jacksonville has still proved to have one of the strongest squads in the Conference. They are leading the standings with a 9-3 record in conference games, and a 13-8 mark overall.
