The Hawks is the name for the athletics program at St. Joseph being men's basketball the most popular sport.

The Hawks have achieved 13 NIT tournament presentations and have competed in 18 NCAA tournaments.

Amongst the school’s main rivals we can mention; La Salle University Explorers,  Villanova University Wildcats  and Temple University Owls.

The Hawks’ overall record stands at: (21-12) overall, ( 8-5) home, (9-6) away, (4-1) neutral and conference overall (9-7).

This season 2007-08 will mark the 19th Hawks' appearance in the NCAA Men's Basketball tournament as it was selected as an at-large bid for the tournament.
