The Hawks have competed in 19 NCAA tournaments. Their most recent March Madness participation came in 2008. They have made one Final Four, two Elite Eight and seven Sweet Sixteen.
The Hawks have won 18 regular season conference championships. Saint Joseph had a perfect season in 2003-2004. The team went 16-0 in conference games and finished 27-1 overall.
The Hawks hold fierce rivalries with other a Salle Explorers, Villanova Wildcats and Temple Owls. In a 2008 game against Villanova, Saint Joseph's students invaded the Villanova Crowd and unleashed a rollout with SJU's motto "The Hawks Will Never Die" in Villanova blue.
Saint Joseph's fans are among NCAA Division I most spirited. It is the most followed Athletic program in campus.
Saint Joseph's Hawks went 9-7 in conference games and 17-15 overall in the 2008-2009 season.
