The Boston College men's basketball team is called the Eagles and started playing in 1904.
The team has reached recent success in the hands of head coach Al Skinner, including seven consecutive postseason tournament invitations, six to the NCAA tournament.
The team successfully made its transfer to the Atlantic Coast Conference from the Big East in the 2005-06 season, with 11 league wins in its first year with the conference.
In the 2007-08 season the Eagles finished with a 14-17 overall record and 4-12 in the conference.
In the 2008-09 season, Boston College went 9-7 in conference games, closing the season with a 22-11overall mark. The team tied at 4th place in the Atlantic Coast Conference. They received the number 7 seed and went on to play USC on March 20th, 2009. They couldn't keep a 4 pts lead by halftime and lost 72-55.
