The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets became one popular and strong program in college basketball under the coaching of Bobby Cremins, who served the team from 1981 until 2000.

Cremins guided the team to their first ACC championship in 1985 and Final Four appearance in 1991.

Currently, Georgia Tech's head coach is Paul Hewitt, who helped revitalize the basketball program, leading them to win the preseason NIT in the 2003 and 2004 seasons.

Eight Georgia Tech Alumni now play in the NBA. The Yellow Jackets went 2-14 in conference games during the 2008-2009 season. With a 12-19 overall mark, the team finished last in the Atlantic Coast Conference.

As of late January 2010 the Yellow Jackets are 11-1 at home for the season, and are certainly looking much stronger this season. But they still have some big games ahead of them.
