The school’s athletics program is known as the Demon Deacons which have been competing in the ACC since 1953.
Wake Forest men’s basketball team plays its home games at the Lawrence Joel Veterans Coliseum.
It has been the cradle of many NBA players such as: Chris Paul, Rusty Laure, and Len Chappell
Despite the fact, the Demon Deacons have won the conference tournament several times; 1961, 1962, 1995 and most recently 1996, the team has only had one appearance in the Final Four back in 1962.
Despite of this, Wake Forest has appeared in 21 NCAA Tournaments, and has made it 7 times to the Elite Eight.
In the 2008-2009 season, Wake Forest made it 11-5 in conference games and 24-6 overall to take the third place of the Atlantic Coast Conference. The School was ranked 12th according to the AP poll ranking. As of late January 2010 Wake Forest sits third in the conference standings.
