The school men’s basketball team “the Panthers” athletic program has been quite successful and the team is currently led by Bart Lundy and his coaching staff.

High Point men's basketball team is part of the Big South conference competing in the NCAA Division I and their home arena is the Millis Athletic Center.

Among some the school’s most accomplished basketball players we can mention: NCAA Coach and Assistant Coach of the 2000 U.S. Men's Basketball Team Tubby Smith; Gene Littles - Former NBA Coach and Jerry Steele - Former NCAA Basketball Coach and Former Coach/Director of Player Personnel.
