The men’s basketball team is known as the Mustangs and the team is currently coached by Kevin Bromley.

The basketball program has not been very successful until the last season in 2007 when the team was just one win short to enter the NCAA basketball tournament.

The school’s main rivalry is with UC Santa Barbara as both school are within the central coast area.

The university athletics program is part of the Big West Conference in the NCAA Division I.
