The men’s basketball team is known as the Matadors basically due to the region’s Hispanic heritage.
The school was a former member of the Big Sky conference and they achieved to win the title during their last year as members.
The team is currently coached by Bobby Braswell and some of the players listed in the school’s roster for 2007-2008 were: Rob Haynes, Deon Tresvant, Paul Wayne, Josh Jenkins, Evan Scott, and Calvin Chitwood, who help the team to finished with a record of 12-4 in the conference and sharing the title of the Big West Conference with Cal State Fullerton and UC Santa Barbara. This year the Matadors are hoping the same achievement or better this season 2008-09.
The Matadors play their home games at the Matadome arena in Northridge.
