The 49ers men’s basketball team has been a very successful athletic program throughout the years.
The team has managed to achieved nine regular conference championships plus four conference tournaments in 1977, 1993, 1995 and 2007.
The team is currently led by Dan Monson and he is assisted by Vic Couch, Eric Brown, Rod Palmer and operations director Scott Coopman.
For the 2006-2007 season the 49ers ended the season with a 24-8 (12-2) record and won the Big West conference championship along with their first trip to the NCAA tournament in 12 years. Besides the team’s eight NCAA Tournaments participations.
The school strongest rivalry is with UC Irvine.
However during the season 2007-08 things were not as good as the 2006-07 season, the 49ers ended with a record of 8-4 in conference and an overall record of 13-12. For this season 2008-09 Long Beach and his coach Dan Monson is aiming for a better performance this period.
