The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign was created in 1867 and it is located in Urbana, Illinois.
The school’s Men’s basketball team is named the Fighting Illini also known as the Illini and it is part of the Big Ten conference in the NCAA Division I.
Illinois basketball team has been the Big Ten Regular Season Champion 17 times from 1915 to 2005, and also has been Big Ten Tournament Champion twice in 2003 and 2005, respectively.
Most recently during the 2006-2007 season the Fighting Illini basketball team finished in 4th place in the Big ten tournament, but in the NCAA tournament the team lost in their first presentation to the Virginia Tech.
