Michigan State athletics team are known as the Spartans which are part of the Big Ten conference in the NCAA Division I.
The men's basketball team has earned twice the NCAA National Championship, in 1979 and 2000.
Since 1995 Tom Izzo was selected as the men’s basketball Coach. His work has shown excellent results as the
Spartans have been present to four of nine NCAA Final Fours (1999-2007) and the team has made a total of 23 NCAA tournament appearances.
