The university was founded in 1855 and it is located in State College, Centre County, Pennsylvania.
The Penn State athletic teams participate in the Big Ten Conference as part of the NCAA Division I-A. The athletic teams are known as Nittany Lions.
The school’s Men’s basketball program made it to the Final Four in 1954 and in the 2000-2001 season they reached the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament.
Their home basketball games are played at the Bryce Jordan Center.
During last season 2007-08, the Nittany Lions finished with an overall record of 15-16 and a conference record of 7-11. Moreover, Penn State got to the Big Ten Tournament but lost in the first round against Illinois 63-64. For the 2008-09 season, the Nittany Lions look forward to a better season and a spot in the NCAA Tournament.
