The school’s athletic programs compete in the Big Ten Conference in the NCAA DIvision I-A.
The Men’s basketball team is called the Badgers and they have won 16 Big Ten Conference Championship titles, 14 of them in the early years, from 1907 to 1947. In that era the team also won their only NCAA Tournament Championship, in 1941.
Most recently, the team reached the Final Four for the second time in its history in the 2000, won the Big Ten title in 2002 and 2003 and the Big Ten Conference Tournament in 2004.
The Winsconsin Badgers have produced several NBA players and currently we can mention Michael Finley, who plays with the San Antonio Spurs, Devin Harris of the Dallas Mavericks and Alando Tucker of the Phoenix Suns. |
