The Kansas Jayhawks basketball team is currently the third winningest program in the history of college basketball. Since joining the Big 12, the Jayhawks have won 9 Regular Season Championships, and 6 tournament championships, that is since 1997.

The team has also two NCAA Tournament titles (1952 and 1988) and has played in a total of 13 Final Fours in their 38 appearances in the tournament.

They have won more conference titles in men's basketball than any other college, with a total of 50.

Kansas has the longest current streak of NCAA tournament appearances with 20. Current Head Coach, Bill Self was introduced to the team in 2003-2004.He guided the team to the Elite Eight on that first year.

Things slowed down a bit the following to years, but the Jayhawks had a good comeback in 2006-2007 when they made it to the Elite Eight.

In 2008-2009 the Jayhawks made it to the sweet 16 round, where they lost to Michigan State in their way to the National Championship. Nevertheless, the team managed to keep up their 40+game win streak at their home stadium, the Allen Fieldhouse, an NCAA record.

As of Early February 2010, the Jayhawks are 9-0 in conference games and 23-1 overall. That is 15-0 at home this season, and 55-0 streak at the Allen Fieldhouse. They are leading every poll in the nation. Only time will tell how the team plays its cards in March Madness, were it matters most.
