In the 2008-2009 season the Tigers went 12-4 in conference games, and held an overall record of 28-6 in this very competitive conference. That was enough to take 3rd place in the Big 12.

They also claimed their first ever Big 12 Tournament Title with wins over Oklahoma State, Baylor and Texas Tech. The team went on to March Madness and made it into the Elite Eight.

The team went on to play 18-0 at home for the season. The fan filled Mizzou Arena certainly gave the Tigers the home team advantage at every game. This was a school record.

As of Mid-February 2010, the Tigers are 6-4 in conference games and sit 6th in the Big 12 conference standings.
