The Cowboys have appeared 23 times in the NCAA Tournament, winning the championship in two consecutive years: 1945 and 1946, and making it into the Final Four round in six different occasion. Their last back in 2004.
2001 was a ver tragic year for the team. One of three planes carrying OSU players and staff crashed in Colorado, due to bad weather, and killed all 10 on board.
Within the Big 12, the team has achieved one Conference Regular Season Championship (2004) and two Tournament Championships (2004, 2005)
In 2008-2009 under Head Coach Travis Ford, the Cowboys went 9-7 in confence games to finish 4th in the Big 12. They made it to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
Head Coach Travis Ford exceeded all expectations in his first year with the Cowboys. For the 2009-2010 season, Ford is keeping his team on good track. As of mid February, the team is 17-7 overall and 5-5 overall.
